Lagniappe

Tonight we went to have dinner at the Kohl's (my favorite Kruse & Muer pizza) and then we ventured out to Lagniappe in Rochester. We got there just in time to see Santa, the reindeer, AND the lighting in town! It was beautiful... although Jacob said his favorite part was seeing Santa! Santa even waved at him... talk about making his night! It really was a nice night for it... if only we hadn't missed the gingerbread house at Royal Park! I guess we'll just have to go back!

Alexis' 6 Month Doctor Visit

Today Alexis had her 6 month doctor's visit with Dr. Kalo. She weighed 15 lbs 10 oz. and was 26 inches long. Her weight put her in roughly the 30th percentile and height in the 40th. Her stats and development all looked great up until the rolling over issue! Dr. Kalo is concerned because she has yet to roll over either way. AND she is not sitting unassisted yet either. She wants her to be evaluated for physical therapy. I seriously believe it is because of her laid back personality but agree that it is probably a great idea to get her checked out. I made her appointment for next Thursday the 10th... so we'll see what they say. Alexis also had 5 vaccines at her appointment... including the flu shot. (she did have a mild reaction to one of them, producing a low grade temperature). All in all the apppointment was great... the doctor was charmed by Alexis! Go figure! We were saddened to hear though that Dr. Kalo is leaving the practice... we really like her!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving spending it with both the Kohl & Borgman Families! We started out at the Kohl's... had dinner, played, visited with Bubba, Bets, Pa, Mimi & Cam and then we headed to Doe's. Doe, Tete & all of us enjoyed dinner. Gigi, Tim, Cathy & Bella came over for dessert. We watched alot of home movies... including the Nutcracker tapes from when Mommy danced. Jacob loved those! It was such a nice relaxing day... the kids really enjoyed themselves and so did we!

Tree Lighting At Partridge Creek!

Tonight Doe, Cathy, the kids & I went to Partridge Creek for the tree lighting! We got there about 5:30 and it was so busy there... I think the nice weather got everyone out! We had planned on having dinner but settled on Taco bell since everywhere was so crazy busy! We had a picnic outside (a taco bell picnic), I got to see a few students of mine, a former co-worker, get light wands for the kids, listened to christmas music, and watching the lighting of the trees! It was beautiful the kids really enjoyed it! We didn't get the cookies or the hot chocolate or onto Santa's lap but we had fun regardless! Bella slept the entire time... and Alexis slept most of the time too!

Grace... And Her GRAY Tooth!

Grace had bumped her mouth pretty hard a few weeks ago... it was bloody and bruised looking. I had been told it might turn gray but I thought we were in the clear, but NO! Today Doe noticed it was gray and she gently broke the news to me. I was devastated! I can only imagine her school pictures with a GRAY front tooth... ugh! I guess in the grand scheme of things it isn't the end of the world, but it just bums me out!

Alexis Is 6 Months Old!

I know I say this ALL THE TIME... but seriously! How did my baby get to be 6 months old! Each day she brings new joys to our lives, yet the joys are masked by he sadness that she is growing so quickly and our "baby hood" days are almost over! I cannot wait to see the little girl she will become, but on the same hand I love the baby she IS!
Alexis absolutely adores her siblings! She loves to pull them closer to her and lights up when she sees them! The pulling closer sometimes results in some hair pulling, but the kids are pretty good about it!
She doesn't LOVE tummy time but doesn't hate it either. She makes crawling motions when she is on her tummy but has yet to roll over either way! She is just too content with her self and doesn't mind just laying there, what a good baby!
We are still holding at 2 teeth (bottom front). She sucks and bites on her thumb and drools like crazy so I can only imagine it is just a matter of time before more come in! Alexis loves to eat. She now eats rice cereal, oatmeal, peas, and squash. She will eat anything... but still wrinkles up her nose at the veggies. (Although she just recently started on them... so it may take a while to develop the taste). She also has tried stars, attempted sippy cups and even had a few nibbles off a biscuit on morning (she was starved... and so we let her try some, she loved it!). She is so very interested in watching others eat... and eating herself!
Alexis still seems so tiny... her hands and feet are still so small. Size 1 shoes are still big on her... and she can still fit in 0-3 month clothes... although mainly now she wears 3-6 month stuff.
Alexis is very content... content and nosey! She loves to watch those around her but will go anywhere! She loves the swing, boucy seat, playmat, ANYWHERE... really she is so easy! We are blessed to have such a wonderful baby! There is no doubt about it Alexis is so lovable she smiles and talks all the time! She is the happiest baby on the earth!! I adore her... but hey don't we all!??!?!
She is a bit behind on her doctor's visits because of holidays and stuff... so I don't have an official height and weight but I did weigh her today and she was 15 lbs 5 oz... and I thought that was neat since she was born on 5.15, just a little play on numbers!

Jacob's FOUR Year Physical...

Today Jacob had his 4 year check up. We had such a hard time this time... I had to drag him out of the car because he had a hunch he was getting shots and definitely didn't want them! He got his sight, hearing, blood pressure, eyes, ears, nose, throat and weight done by the nurse. He weighed 43 lbs and was 43 inches tall (the nurse told me he is perfect since by this age they are suppose to weigh one pound for every inch) Both of his measurements put him in the 90% percentile. Dr. Dubina came in and checked him out... giving him a gold star for knowledge, and overall health (she checked his walk, talk, back, heartbeat, and stomach). He cried or wimpered the entire time we were there saying "No Shots Mom!".
After Dr. Dubina and I talked about his allergies, and the H1N1 (she strongly recommended it) the nurse came back and gave him his shots (he got 3 total and a finger poke for bloodwork). I decided to take Jacob and Grace right after to the Troy office since they were having the H1N1 clinic and had 70 doses for ages 4+ and only a couple for under 4. We booked it there and made it just in the nick of time... we were the last ones in for the shot that day (they ran out that quickly!). This time the kids both cried but it was so quick they were over it pretty fast!

As a follow up... Jacob limped out of bed the next morning because of his shotty's and needed help sitting, can you tell he is a boy?!?!?!?

Caseville In November!

We had an AWESOME weekend in Caseville this weekend (Doe, the kids & I). We went up Saturday... stopped at J's request of Big Boy and Walmart. Then headed to the cottage, we played outside... on the beach, at the creek, and went to town for more shopping and to get a pizza! At night we made cookies, and had ice cream sandwiches.
On Sunday we played outside ALL day... it was BEAUTIFUL! We had fun on the beach making sandcastles, finding sticks, walking on the beach, playing at the creek, and we also had fun playing in the leaves! Doe blowed the leaves and Jacob and Grace were just eating it up! They rolled in the leaves, danced in the leaves and buried themselves in the leaves! Sunday morning we also had a first experience for Gracie... she got her nails painted! She loved it... and feels like a big girl. She is excited to show everyone she knows... and I told her if she can stay "dry" she can keep them painted. So far she has had ZERO accidents since the nails. (although she really hasn't had too many lately anyways, and has been very good in the last couple months, she even goes by herself now, YEAH!)
Lex had squash for the first time on Saturday night... and she also had some bites of biscuits (loved them) on Saturday. She had "breakfast" on Sunday for the very first time as well!! She is a very hungry little girl!
We had so much fun... can't wait to do it again!

Halloween!

We were all so glad that Halloween was on the weekend this year! We went to Bets & Pa's house for pizza and a little Kohl gathering. The kids went to the neighbors there and loved trick or treating. Grace almost wiped out all of the neighbors large candy bars... YIKES! From there we headed over to Peen's. We got our yearly visit in with Ainsley & Aislin. Jacob & Grace had alot of fun playing with them and watching Mickey Mouse! Our little Mickey even wanted the girls to come into his clubhouse! lol...
From there we went to Universal to see Tete & the gang. Tete even let us take our picture by the ambulance and get in for a little tour. The kids always love that!
Jacob & Grace were so tired on the way home they nearly fell asleep! Our Mickey, Minnie & Mini Minnie had a wonderful time and were VERY spoiled, as always!
